Hair rig Pellets
Unlike standard halibut pellets which are designed to feed farmed Halibut, which are themselves sea fish and have a very different metabolism to that of Carp and coarse fish in general, these pellets contain an optimal level of fish meals and highly digestible protein and carbohydrate sources to provide a bait with high nutritional value to the freshwater fish. As a result the fish associates the bait as being part of its natural diet source and as such has a greater desire to eat it. Smartbait hair rig pellets are designed with half the oil content of aquaculture halibut pellets but still deliver maximum attractancy and stimulants to bring the fish onto feeding. Added to this the Hair rig pellets from smartbait are designed to behave very differently when they come into contact with the water in the river or lake.
Boilies
As a company that prides itself on its innovative approach to bait development and the quality of our products, we have always said that if we ever produced a boilie it would have to very special indeed. Well people just kept asking, and here they are, the new SMARTBaiT X-CITE boilies. We have included specialist ingredients from all over the world and as a result the X-CITE range of boilies is truly exceptional. A complex mixture of highly digestible protein and carbohydrate sources, we also include powerful but balanced combinations of fish meal, protein hydrolysates and special ingredients including krill, shrimp meal, kelp meal, yeast extracts, betaine, corn steep liquor, Green lipped Mussel, aminos, Robin Red, sugars and essential oils along with a few secrets of our own, many sourced from human grade suppliers. We have launched the X-CITE range to great acclaim in 15mm and 20mm sizes in two flavours, Fish meal with a crab hydrolysate core (Super Crab) and birdseed with a Corn Steep Liquor (CSL) core. These quality boilies are made slightly softer than your average boilie, giving a better mouthfeel to the fish and also therefore easy to push on the needle or indeed crumble for inclusion in stick mixes.
Top Tip - for waters where Crayfish are a problem, the baits should be pre threaded onto a needle or wire and then air dried to harden the baits before use.
Pop Ups
Bob Davies uses SMARTBaiT Pop ups at his Lac Serrerie in France and they have accounted for several 50lb and 60 lb fish. He describes them as “simply the best pop that I’ve ever used” We have 15mm pop ups to match all of our boilies but these can also be used to critically balance our hair rig pellets enabling a whole host of possibilities when it comes to rigs and bait presentation. The baits are supplied in handy re sealable plastic pots for ease of use on the bank and for subsequent storage and freshness!
Hair Rig Pellets
Developed for us by scientists who worked on the famous Dog mixer this new hookable / hair rig version has been designed specifically for fish rather than dogs. The raw materials used for this bait are the same quality as those in all our other baits, not just wheat and meat meal mass produced for the country’s doggy population. The carefully controlled extrusion process used to make this type of bait ensures that the finished product is nutritionally sound for the fish - but also the pellets have the perfect handling and rigging properties for the angler. Gone is the need for pre soaking, super glue, bait bands and all such time consuming activities, just side hook or hair rig and off you go. The structure of these floating baits gives great versatility in the way that the bait can be presented ensuring that you get results whatever the situation. They’ll also stay up for hours without coming off the hook or hair! Once you’ve tried SmartbaiT floating chum you won’t go back. Available in Original, Super Crab, Tuna Fruit and new Halibut flavour for summer 2008 this is already a must have product for any serious surface angler’s armoury.
Bait Soaks
Smartbait bait soaks are designed to perfectly compliment our range of bait products, but will also give a boost to any pre made bait or base mix. Each soak contains an oil based attraction system combined with specially formulated palatant ingredients and a complex aroma system to ensure that they are completely irresistible to fish. They should be used at a rate of 50 ml per kg of base mix - or to boost hook baits, simply soak the bait for a couple of hours (even better results will be obtained if they are soaked overnight). Smartbait bait soaks are PVA friendly and can be added to stick mixes and other free offerings for use in netting or bags.
At Smartbait we take great care of the fish and environment and know that too much oil is good for neither fish nor the long term water quality. Therefore please use these products responsibly and if required, dispose of them sensibly.
Soft Hooker Pellets
Smartbait 6mm QB soft hooker pellets have their history grounded in the very first baits our company ever launched. Each bait contains hundreds of small capillaries which enable us to soak huge amounts of attractant and bite stimulant right to the core of the bait after forming so that heat sensitive bite stimulants remain in their most active form, neither denatured nor destroyed by the cooking / forming process. The baits then pump out a constant stimulant signal into the water under osmotic pressure remaining active for several hours. The fibrous nature of the QBs means that they are soft yet remarkably tough. This allows them to be hair rigged or side hooked and they will not fall off the hook through multiple casts. Their unique fibre structure also allows QBs to be cut to any size desired and if crushed in the hand or chopped finely, will form a paste which still retains its hooking properties.

SMARTbaiT Sea Sticks:
SMARTBaiT Sea Sticks are currently available in Peel-a-Crab, Black Lug and Rag Worm varieties. The Peel-a-Crab Sea Sticks contain a human grade crab extract and have been catching fish around the UK coast line since their launch in October 2004. The Sea Sticks are currently available in tackle shops around the UK's coastline or direct from smartbait.co.uk
Sea Oils & Glugs
Our sea oil / glug range contains only the highest quality marine oils with proven attractant properties and durability in even the most testing of sea fishing conditions. These oils can be used to boost the potency of live baits such as Lug and Rag worm, food source baits like SMARTbaiT sea sticks or even artificial lures. Although more difficult to handle in the factory than winterised oils, we use unadulterated pure fish oils with none of the of the natural attractants taken out. They are however dioxin filtered to remove any harmful build up elements. The Lug worm and Rag worm glugs contain genuine extracts of their specified flavours (e.g. blow and black lug worm) from the highest quality, environmentally friendly , farmed worms. These provide an incredibly powerful scent trail in the water which act as a natural stimulant and feeding signal for many species of fish, meaning that even in the murkiest of waters the fish can still find their target! Simply leave your preferred bait to soak in the oil for a couple of hours before use, (overnight soaking is preferable) and away you go! SMARTBaiT Sea Sticks will act like a sponge and take on up to 50 % of their own weight in oil without affecting their strength for hooking and/or whipping to rigs. This gives them super boosted performance in the water. As with all oil products, please use them responsibly and should the occasion arise, please dispose of them sensibly.
SMARTBaiT aims to provide anglers with the most innovative, most successful and highest quality baits on the market at a competitive price.

Standard pellets tend to crumble and disintegrate rapidly into a shapeless mass and in the case of drilled pellets from the inside at the same time as the outside. The SmartbaiT hair rig pellet breaks down in controlled layers almost like peeling back an onion skin. Each layer breaks down to release attractant and particulates into the water around the bait, acting as “free groundbait” and a fresh layer of attractant is exposed. As a result a continuous and powerful attractant signal is pumped into the water, and all the while this is going on the centre of the bait remains firm and therefore the hook and hair remain attached to the bait all the time - giving maximum chance of the bait being taken and the hook striking home!
